New Hairdo
Yes I have taken the plunge and dyed my hair after a very long break. I have used Loreal Casting Dark Chocolate. I perhaps should have used Iced Chocolate here as it has come out slightly dark, but am hoping that after a couple of washes it will calm down to a more natural hue.

I also trimmed it myself using the "Mumsnet Haircut" method- after blow-drying straight, brush a ponytail of hair over the face. The tail to come out over the line that you wear your parting. Blunt cut the tail across- be aware that the closer you cut to your face the shorter the front layers are going to come out. I left the layers quite long as I want to be able to tie my hair back after the cut, and don't particularly want a fringe. Once cut it will look a bit like a shaving brush. Set the tail free and let your new layers swing into place. All the dead ends have gone, and it took all of about 2 minutes to do. Easy peasy!
