I've been planning this bit for ages.....

Its time to marzipan!
I am not a fan of marzipan to eat I should admit, but I think it will make the cake look tons better so I am doing it.


 Plugged a couple of tiny craters with marzipan and added a collar.  This was glued on with warmed apricot glaze (yummy!).
Then used the base of the cake tin to cut out a circle to go on the top.  Glued it and smoothed it and then trimmed with a pallet knife where there were a couple of bulges.



Got to leave this for about a week before I can do the next step- covering with icing.
